Living In Paris: The Apartment

I came across the photo above on Instagram with the hashtag #housegoals from a friend who recently visited Paris. So for all the foreigners out there, let me just tell you that we as Parisians, know that the probability of owning or renting an apartment with such a charming view is probably 10%?

I mean the closest opportunity for you to get to look at Haussmannian rooftops with an Eiffel Tower backdrop would be probably at the top floor of Galeries Lafayette at Opera. (By the way the visits are for free!)

And don't get me wrong, living in Paris is glamorous by itself. Just walking around you'll get to soak on the beauty of it, while you are rushing to your office, running errands, or enjoying a calm afternoon promenade.

But remember for most of us who are not millionaires (yet), you are able to rent an apartment of 25 to 30 m2 (and that's huge in Parisian standards), for around 1,500 euros per month. No terrace or breathtaking view included. And since most apartments have a courtyard view, the brightest sparkle of your night will often be from your neighbor’s huge TV screen across the court.

But then again, who really needs to have a magical view 24/7? Since you can still get it from many different locations around the capital. Too much of anything is good for nothing, right?
